NEW RESEARCH ON MOBILE PHONE SAFETY

British scientists are conducting yet another study to investigate whether the use of mobile phones is linked to long term health effects such as brain cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. The study is carried out by the Mobile Telecommunication and Health Research (MTHR) programmer. EUROPE; THE HIGHEST MOBILE INTERNET USERS

While the deployment of 3G technology for a faster internet usage continues to be in a snail speed, especially in African sub-region, Europe has taken to 3G faster than any other region in the world and usage is growing rapidly as network proliferate. A research commissioned by mobile operator body of Gsm Association (GSMN) has revealed there has been a rapid increase in 3G mobile technology in Europe. The EU’s mobile data market, according to reports grew by 40% last year to EUR7billion the research found with 3G users doubling to 112 million in the yea. According to GSMA the falling cost of 3G services, handsets and 3G enabled laptops and dongles are helping to drive the market and it claimed mobile broadband services. In some European markets are now priced lower than comparable fixed line broad band competition for WI-FI is also helping to bring prices down.

This post is especially for all those brave souls out there who are running Windows Vista, until recently I too was a pioneer of this brave new world of funky GUI and fatal flaws, I gave up last week and removed Vista from the last PC here in my home that had it installed. Now, in the few months I ran Vista on my main work laptop (ASUS G2S), I discovered one really crazy omission from the system, namely a way to resize images easily. You can select an image in windows explorer, email it to yourself and resize it before it is sent, but lets face it, that’s a really long winded and stupid way of resizing a picture. Lastest Technology Forum To Nigeria.

More than 5,000 industry leaders and stakeholders were due to converge in Nigeria's capital city of Abuja Monday for the start of the Africa Information Technology Exhibition (AFRITEX).The participants at the three-day exhibition are expected to come from Africa, Asia, Middle East, Europe and the Americas.They will be joined by 200 exhibitors of ICT products, who plan to use the exhibition to learn, network and showcase the best in ICT.Nigeria's President Umaru Yar'Adua was due to open the exhibition, which is being managed by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and DasMedia.Exhibition co-ordinator Sola Oworu said in a statement that the programme was planned to provide a common platform for stakeholders in the industry across Africa and beyond to showcase their products and services."AFRITEX 2008 is intended to create a prestigious international forum for providers of ICT solutions as well as consumers to meet, showcase the latest technologies and innovations as well as discuss best practices in the latest technologies and innovations (and) discuss best practices in the ICT world as they impact on the economies of Africa.''The theme of this year's AFRITEX is ''harnessing the opportunities in Africa ICT environment,'' he said.The conference programme will combine strategic keynote presentations, technical, legal and policy papers, business and government case studies, workshops and tutorials to be handled by experts in the industry.
